miss you…

28 Jan

this is a very appropriate post actually… one of my best friends moved to melbourne recently and when i was organising a package from my kids to hers i thought i’d do a layout for her to let her know she was missed…

i’ve used basicgrey’s picadilly range for this – i am just in love with the colour combinations in this collection.

so why is this post appropriate? because i am blogging this on a stopover in melbourne en route to CHA and jenae is coming in to meet up for a quick cuppa :-) i tried to talk her into bringing her babies as well but didn’t have any luck…

im also waiting for my CHA buddy Lou to arrive and then we’re off…  if you’re going to be at CHA pop into the lily bee booth and say hi!

a better me…

10 Jan

it’s that time of the year again – new year’s resolutions time… when i started this layout for lily bee i wasn’t quite sure what mine should be but doing the layout itself gave me a couple of hints lol…

1. be less of a last minute girl…. yes, i did leave this one to the last minute lol… i love it but ran out of time to fix the spelling mistake and rephotograph it, so that is a fitting #1

2. read better books… the book i’m using for tearing apart at the moment is an old copy of jane eyre, which got me thinking about what i have been reading lately.  i usually try and keep a balance between good books and escapist fluff but i have definitely been leaning heavily towards the fluff lately…

and then i had to pick a photo which lead me to…

3. take more photos of me.  i really like this photo of myself but it is the only current one i have lol… one of my resolutions for last year was to scrap myself more which i have done but that means i need more decent photos of myself so they don’t get scrapped to death like this one!

if you’re searching for some more new year’s pages inspiration head over to the lily bee blog.

confidential mummy & lucy business…

7 Jan

2011 was the year lucy discovered mummy and santa are the same person.  of course in true lucy style she conducted a few experiments (mainly involving alarm sensors which don’t in fact show when santa is watching) and then came to me with her accumulated evidence. she took it surprisingly well actually and was also a help in deflecting a few questions from eliza.  i wanted to record the memory but couldn’t risk liza reading the journalling so i hid it behind a flap.

i’ve used basicgrey’s nordic holiday range which is probably one of my favourite ever christmas lines.  the fact i love love love navy probably has something to do with it lol…

this was the layout for the basicgrey flickr challenge last week to include stitching on a layout so i have tried to make that a feature of my page.

i just hope it’s at least a couple of years before i have to do a similar page for liza…

is that you paul?

6 Jan

my turn to host the lily bee blog today and i have done a layout i have been wanting to do for weeks. archie is in love with his yellow submarine t-shirt (me too, i wish it came in my size) and made me take some pictures of him wearing it.  when i uploaded them i had to laugh at how much he looks like a young paul mccartney… barefoot a la abbey road and all…

i’ve used a heap of different lily bee ranges for this page – i love how they all go together so well…

i just adore these polka dots and thought it would be fun to make them stand out even more by filling a few of them in with string.

archie came in while i was doing this layout and it has squirrelled it away to his room – i’m glad i had a chance to photograph it first…

basicgrey flickr friends…

31 Dec

basicgrey have started a fun new monthly competition – flickr friends. each month will have a theme, just upload your projects using the theme to the flickr pool and you could win some basicgrey goodies AND have your project featured on the basicgrey blog!

i’ve done a project using the first theme – stitching… here is a peek…

head on over to the blog to have a look at the whole thing plus some awesome samples from a few of the other dt members.

have a great new year’s everyone and stay safe xx

who wants to see my scrap room?

28 Dec

i’m hosting the lily bee blog today and they’ve asked me to share some pictures and answer some questions on how and where I scrap…

fair warning though…. you know how you see all these features on beautiful, immaculate, inspiring scrap spaces?

yeah, not so much…

i hope everyone is having a happy and safe Christmas break!

the silly season…

23 Dec

i spent ages trying to get a photo of archie for christmas but he refused point blank to smile and look at the camera at the same time… unless he held the “ho” on his head rather than in front of him as i wanted him to…

of course once i had a good look at the photos i was glad he did – they capture archie being archie perfectly!

i’ve used basicgrey’s nordic holiday range for this page. i love how many subtle variations of aqua there are in the papers and rub-ons which allowed me to do a monochromatic page without the individual embellishments getting lost.

i also love how this layout looks nothing like the last one i did using nordic holiday, there are just so many ways to use this range..

dear santa…

15 Dec

it’s my turn to host the lily bee blog today and for day 15 of the 24 days of christmas projects i have chosen to do a layout to record my children’s dear santa lists…

i went to grab some ledger paper from memorandum for a background to tie in with the lines on our dear santa chalkboard but as I was looking through my stash I realised the range would be perfect for the whole layout.
the business letter embellishments lent themselves to the theme of my page beautifully. as well as using a lot of the cardstock stickers i had the kids each write their list on a journal card and then made a little pocket to slip the cards into.
the only problem i had was with the lists themselves… they were nothing like the ones they wrote for me in november – oops!

with or without…

13 Dec

i was taking some pics of the kids the other day and lucy asked me to take some without her glasses as well as with as she wasn’t sure which she liked best. me? i know i’m biased but i think she is stunning either way…

this layout includes a lot of different types of stitching and i’ll be teaching it as a technique class at scrapbook secrets starting early next year.

the products are from crate paper’s emma shoppe line.  i’ve used emma’s shoppe a lot but i just never get sick of it!

not quite baby…

lately i’ve been able to let go of some of my control freak tendencies and let the girls choose their own clothes – retaining the power of veto of course… liza is a little fashionista and i have to make sure she chooses something appropriate, as in not a party dress for a trip to the park. lucy’s choices are always appropriate but we’re still working on the whole matching thing. yesterday’s outfit was so close, if only she had forgone the stockings lol…

i’ve used BasicGrey’s indie bloom range for this one – i am seriously in love with that green bubble print paper. the colours did match my photo perfectly and the whole range is just so much fun…

i adore this huge felt flowers so i tried to build my layout around it… it gave me a chance to use the really funky smaller flower too.

my husband has been playing an awful lot of golf lately and so owes me some serious scrapping time which should mean a very crafty weekend for me, i hope yours is the same!
